WRASM and WaterAid Malawi held a district entry meeting with health leaders in ππππ‘π’π¬π’ to discuss the upcoming mobilisation of women service users and frontline health workers for WASH πππ―π¨ππππ² in maternity wards of healthcare facilities.
The meeting sparked constructive dialogue on how to work collaboratively to ensure ππ₯πππ§, π¬πππ, and ππ’π π§π’ππ’ππ care for women and newborns.
Demonstrating the districtβs commitment, Ndindase Maganga, Ntchisi District Nursing and Midwifery Officer (DNMO), shared:
βThis campaign is welcome in Ntchisi. We feel thereβs a need for a mindset change towards how we perceive WASH in our facilities. We [healthcare workers] must move together with the community, and coming together will yield fruitful results. We are also proud of the continued support from WaterAid, including provision of water facilities, and we are geared to champion the campaign.β
The entry meetings will also be held in Kasungu and Mangochi, as part of efforts to amplify community voices and drive sustainable improvements in WASH for maternal and newborn health.
Below are highlights of the deliberations:
